Famers Markets A Success!!

October 10, 2009 by goldeneggfarm

Barre, Ma. and Arlington, Ma. Farmers Markets have been very good this year. I am working on enlarging my chicken coop for next year and making more and more pottery this winter. Those will be the main focus. But, the value in free range eggs is the quantity that you keep so the number is definitely limiting. There are only so many you can keep track of when they are running all over the farm! There is always the threat of wildlife attack so the yards can not be too wide open or too unfenced. I hope to be able to supply at least one market next year with healthy, happy chicken eggs!

In the meantime, the markets will go on through the month of October and I will have available at the markets, Lamb, Turkey, Duck, Goat, Free Range Duck and Chicken Eggs, Home Spun Yarn and Carded Wool from Sheep and Wool from Llamas as well as Redware Pottery with slip decoration. Also I still have Chicken Poop in bushel size bags that will be great for the fall garden or compost pile.

PHOTOS ON SHUTTERFLY!!!!!

February 7, 2010 by goldeneggfarm

I have just discovered Shutterfly and have put hundreds of photos on it for you to see. Pots, birds, farm scenes were easily downloaded to make a cool site that is easy to access on your own computer.

Fun time during a very cold winter . Chores outside are gruelling as ice is chopped out of water dishes and snow and ice underfoot is treacherous!

However, Spring is in the air.  Some days are actually pleasant and we will be seeing more  and more of them very soon! The chickens

tell me so – They are laying more and more each day.

Check out this site at www.goldeneggfarm.shutterfly.com

Thanks, Kate

Look at this American Beauty!

March 11, 2009 by goldeneggfarm

greenhouse-residents-08-035Red White and Blue Ameraucana Rooster. He is one of the pure bred sires of my Amerileg Flock this year. The girls are laying lovely green eggs right now. You can have them for hatching or for eating and they can be shipped all over the country. This cross is being used to increase the size and number of green eggs. My customers were very anxious last year, to try the green eggs so this year, I should have more for all of those who did not get their green eggs last year!  We will be selling eggs at the Barre and Arlington Farmers Market starting in May. Also on the truck will be chicken compost, home spun yarns from neighborly sheep in my area, and large, bantam and duck eggs. Come to the market!

I though that Robins came in the Sping but this is January 25th!
I will pretend it is Spring and be happy! Lambs will be born soon and
hatching eggs will stop being too frozen to set. These Robins are lucky that the apples stayed on the trees and are providing them with a nutritious snack. Happy Spring!
