Time to get creative – The Silkie hens are just sitting there waiting to be used! One brooder is off with 25 -3 day old chicks in it. They are yelling because they are cold – what can you do? Drop in a broody Silkie Momma! Just make sure it is dark in there and in the morning she has adopted 25 chicks!!!Unbelieveable!!
The incubator is off!! Some duck eggs are just about to hatch and hatching!
Just take out the eggs and deposit them under evey hen that is setting in the corner wishing for a family and poof! In the morning you have baby ducks! One of my Silkies has a collection of 5 runner ducks, and three tiny Silkies. All doing well. I continue to be amazed at the versatility of SIlkies.
We don’t need electricity, just Silkies!
